Annie has been doing well with her PT. Last Friday, she traversed the 100 yard hallway to see the fish and today, I did the big hand-off in the parking lot with Dave. He tells me that she walked to see the fish again, and went down the big front stairs. Her therapist gave her cones to kick down and had her hit a ball off the tee while balancing on her own. She just takes on each new challenge with steady determination. [She got that from her father.]
At home, she often prefers to not have her leg on, but we've been trying to have her connect wearing her leg with going out to fun places. She is a remarkable hopper on her right leg. She squats down on the floor and rockets straight up on her one leg. The quadricep, as you might imagine, is huge and strong. She continues to amaze me and has shown a lot of grace and adaptability with all the limbs she's got.

I think it'll just be a little more time before you won't be able to catch her......
I think at home, it's easier not to have the leg on as she is so very comfortable in that environment and she has adapted to it.
Does the PT person thing you should "make" her wear it at home?
Just curious...that's all.
Sounds as if she's a very determined young lady.....not unlike her parents, eh?
Peggy :)
That's great. Think back to a year or so ago when you were feeling so discouraged about Annie not wanting to wear her leg at all. And now look at her. Sometimes as parents we do need to have an outside person help motivate our kids to do things and that's okay. I think as Christian moms (especially homeschool moms) we can put so many burdens on ourselves thinking that we have to be everything to our kids and personally teach everything to our kids. That's not true. God can stretch us and take us out of a comfort zone and have us teach things to our kids that we aren't secure in. But sometimes He also leads us to someone else who is especially gifted in that area and they can put new energy and perspective into our kids that we just don't have. Sounds like you found such a person in your PT. That's great. Keep trekking.
