Feast Day Vigil

Somewhere in the world, it's already my birthday. Right now, it's after sundown, so let's call it the vigil of my feast day. This year I'm considering celebrating an Octave, like on the major feasts of the church.

Considering it.

What is an Octave?

Kathie: In music, an octave is eight contiguous whole notes.

In Catholicism, it's the eight days and nights following a major feast like Christmas, Easter, and more. So when you hear "Easter Monday" that's the Monday in the Octave of Easter. The Friday after Good Friday is called Easter Friday. So today would be Birthday. Tomorrow would be Birthday Sunday, and Birthday Monday, and on until next Saturday, which would be the end of the Octave.
