Date Night: "Talladega Nights"

We enjoyed a date night tonight. The sitter[s] arrived in time to finish up dinner with the kids and move onto jammies and oral hygiene.

We saw the 7:45 show of "Talladega Nights" and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you like Will Ferrell and you like NASCAR, you'll really enjoy this movie. They take aim [gently] at most everyone: Christians, gays, the French. The racing scenes are pretty darn good, but the heart of the story is Will Ferrell, playing Ricky Bobby, a boy destined to go fast. Ferrell pretty much does his old George W. Bush imitation and he's got a good cast. Several of the supporting cast were pals from SNL or tend to show up in all the Christopher Guest mockumentaries ["Best of Show" "A Mighty Wind"]. They even made a gentle poke at Halliburton. All of it seemed in good fun and no one got hurt.

I got to pick last time and I selected a chick flick. This was his doing, and we had a couple laughs out loud. Do stay until the bitter end. There's a final scene after the credits roll.
