My beloved dad [God rest his soul] used to tell us as to the arrival of the first child in a marriage, "The first one can come at any time; all the rest take 9 months."
He used this to explain the phenomena of 8 pound preemies.

I loved Dad's comment....it still is one that I use...and people hoot over it.
He (Dad) was very wise and very funny, especially when I'd count on my fingers how many months that a first baby arrived...*giggle*
