Boomers, BE GONE!

Looking at the two major party presidential/vp tickets, I notice this: NOT A BABY BOOMER IN THE BUNCH!!

Boomers are defined as those born between 1946 and 1960.
Obama: Born in 1961. Not a Boomer.
Biden: Born in 1942. Not a Boomer.
McCain: Born in 1936. Not a Boomer [though he is married to one].
Palin: Born in 1964. Not a Boomer.

Can we channel former President Gerald Ford and sigh: My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over? At least for this election cycle. I won't count out a certain Boomer super couple until death do us part.

As a Boomer myself (born in 1952), I long ago came to the disappointing conclusion that we were the most overhyped, underachieving, self-absorbed group of people in perhaps the entire history of our nation. So it might be a blessing if only two of us ever achieve the Presidency.

Ahhhh, it's about time some younger people took over things. We boomers have been waiting for somebody other than us to seize the power from the old white guys.

Power isn't given. It's taken.

Birdie Bob: Sounds like a self-loathing Boomer to me.

We've talked about this before. I think we had great potential but listened to our press clippings and never grew up. I think Rush agrees with me so that's two opinions you'll have trouble refuting. :-)

I can't find anyone who says the Baby Boom ended in 1961. Most definitions call anyone born from 1946-1964 (inclusive) Baby Boomers. Nice attempt to avoid the label for yourself, Ruth Anne.

According to the link you provided the Boomer years go up through 1965. This is patently ridiculous, however, as it would make me a Boomer. It is clear to all clear-eyed Americans that I am the quintessential Gen-X'er. ;)
