A Leg to Stand On
Busy day for us. Annie had an ophthalmologist appointment this morning and got to pick up her brand-spankin'-new custom prosthesis. It's purple with butterflies. Tony the orthotist told us to give her the chance to get used to standing on two feet by giving her two-handed toys or tasks in a standing position. Well, see for yourself. Way to go!! I feel like crying...but it's so neat to see her standing and not whippin' out that short leg.

i talked with david tonight and he said how precious it was when mary jo said to annie, "oh, annie your new toes are so pretty!" it made me cry....
can't wait to see her navigate that new leg as well as she navigated her "scooting" locomotion. she'll be hard to catch, i bet.

Thanks, everyone. It'll take some time, I'm finding.
Congrats to Annie. So what's the update now that she's had her new leg for a few days. Is she getting used to it? Update us.
Kathie: By and large, she doesn't like to wear it just yet. She's so darn mobile on her buttocks that it's a real impediment. We're not forcing this one for now. A few minutes a couple times a day and it's still fun for her to put on the leg.
