Fulfilling One's Chief Obligations

A couple days ago, a colleague told me that Chief Justice John Roberts was coming to Wake Forest University Law School to judge a moot court competition, fulfilling an obligation he made several months ago and long before his being named to the nation's highest court. The event was invitation only, and a little on the q.t., hush hush. [Hat tip: RBA]. Today, the story made news locally. I forwarded it to my favorite lawblog, Althouse, and it made the news there, too.

My dad used to tell me that you can tell the character of someone by how they work during their two weeks' notice [of taking another job]. If they continue to fulfill their obligations, they have a good work ethic; most people, he noted, take those last two weeks to slack off. There are many such character-revealing tests in life, I've come to realize.

GRETCHEN,

YOU HAVE A SUPER INCREDIBLE BLOG HERE AND I TOTALLY THINK YOU'RE RIGHT ON CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS AND I ALSO THINK HE'S THE HOTTEST LOOKING JUDGE ON THE COURT IMHO.
